Arvalem Waterfalls Open Now

The Arvalem waterfall, standing at 50 meters tall and 7 meters wide, is a popular spot for tourists and picnickers. It’s especially stunning during the monsoon season when the water crashes down powerfully into the pool below. While not as grand as Dudhsagar Falls, Arvalem is easier to reach and less demanding, making it ideal for families and friends.

Finding the Falls:

Located in North Goa near Mapusa, Arvalem Falls (also known as Harvalem) is closest to the villages of Bicholim (8 km away) and Sanquelim (2 km away). You can easily get there by public transport from Panaji or Mapusa.

When to Visit:

The monsoon season brings Arvalem to life, filling the falls with cascading water. The period just after the monsoon is also a good time to visit. However, during winter and summer, the falls become a gentle trickle, but the lake at the base remains a popular swimming spot.

Natural Splendor:

The Arvalem waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills, typical of Goan forests. The government maintains a park near the falls, offering a serene spot to admire the view or have a picnic.

• • Panoramic Views: Take a walk along the old arched bridge near the falls for a breathtaking view. It’s a photographer’s paradise!
  • Mayem Lake: Explore the nearby Mayem Lake, a short distance from Bicholim.
  • Historical Caves: Within walking distance are the Arvalem rock-cut caves, believed to have been carved by Buddhist monks or used as a refuge by the Pandavas during their exile.
  • Rudreshwar Temple: Discover the Rudreshwar Temple, also within walking distance. Stone steps lead up to the temple on one side of the waterfall, with the bridge on the other.
  • White-Water Adventure: For thrill-seekers, combine your visit with a white-water rafting trip starting at Valpoi village, just 13 km away.
